How honored I was to be asked by Gerri Bragdon, owner of Knit Knack, www.knitknack.org to be a participant in this first annual event.  All of the LYS owners were very nice, and worked hard to bring the event together.  Gerri is the visionary, and the mother of this project, it is her baby!  Fancy Tiger located in Denver www.fancytigercrafts.com was the gracious host of each of our meetings and allowed us to utilize their beautiful craft store location as we planned and mapped out policies and procedures for the event.   Aurora, the owner of Fabric Bliss in Denver www.fabricblissdenver.com did an amazing job on designing the website:  www.YarnAlongTheRockies.com and worked very hard on getting local hotels and restaurants to offer Perks for the yarn crawlers!
Crystal, owner of Stash www.fystash.com in Castle Rock, did a fantastic job of getting all of the materials, i.e., passports, postcards, tote bags etc... ordered from www.airshipprinting.com who did an outstanding job!  I HIGHLY reccomend them for all of your printing needs.
As of this exact moment in typing this Blog after 1:00am, we have three (3) more days in the Yarn Crawl!  How does the crawl work?  So glad you asked!  Stop by any one of the 21 locations from Boulder to Colorado Springs, and pick up your free passport.  Each LYS will stamp your passport, and you will then be able to sign up for the FREE drawing of that shop's gift basket.  Yarn crawlers who receive all 21 store stamps, will have their passports put into a drawing to receive one of the four (4) Grand Prize baskets!  Over at my Shoppe, the gift basket is a fabulous $350 retail value!

Then while you are in each LYS you are free to look and drool over all of the wonderful merchandise that we each have to offer. Locally hand spun, hand dyed yarns as well as manufactured yarns, gifts, hooks, books and needles to die for!
The Buttons!
Well, I must admit that none of us LYS owners really realized how BIG this event was really going to be!  We (most of us) ordered and/or made cute button/pins for you crawlers to put on your tote bags.  Most of the shops literally ran out of buttons within 72 hours!  I do believe that a good portion of the shops ordered more button/pins. I did not order the buttons.  I have a large selection of traditional buttons that I am offering for free, that you may sew on your tote in my Shoppe or take it home and sew it on.  It has been a BIG hit!  Here is Gina from Boulder sewing on her button from Bags By CAB - Yarn Shoppe.  :)

First visitors participating in the yarn crawl at my Shoppe!  Mary (red yarn in hand) is a knitter and wants to sell her baby designs in my YS. :)
The line to get into my YS was literally out the door on Saturday!  People were standing and "Waiting" to get in!  I was shocked!  I really enjoyed meeting all of the wonderful women, and the men!
Knitting and crochet group from Evergreen, CO.  :)

Jennifer handed me the Denver Post sand said she was staying at a near by hotel having breakfast, and read about the event!  She purchased one of my original Bags By CAB felted handbags!  :)

Families got involved in the crawl!  :)

Husbands and wives!  :)

Mothers and daughters!  :)

Girl friends!  :)

Think of Bags By CAB - Yarn Shoppe like a brick and mortar "ETSY!  We have fiber artisans like Ingrid who hand dye their own fibers and sell them in my YS.  Ingrid and her two cute little daughters hand dye and spin their yarns!  Come and pickyours up today!  :)

As for me, what do I do?  Glad you asked! My name is Cassandra Allen - Brown (CAB), and I am the owner of Bags By CAB - Yarn Shoppe.  My "Bags" are handmade crocheted/knitted and felted handbags which are featured in the Fall 2011 issue of Vogue Knitting!

I also have genuine vintage and designer handbags in my Shoppe!   I am the President of the Denver Crochet Guild.  Our monthly Guild meetings are on the first Saturday of each month from 11:00am - 12:30pm.  Just pull up to one of the many vacaant meters in front of my YS that Saturday morning and plug it for 1.5 hours $1.75 and come in and join the party!

I also have a marketing division in my Shoppe that is responsibile for all of my media, and I teach women business owners how to start and/or grow your business.  Read:

PARKING:  If driving downtown to LoDo makes you nervous and trying to find parking, I suggest coming on Saturday morning and afternoons.  Parking meters in front of my YS are often vacant and also the Tabor Center across the street (where the Cheesecake Factory is located), offers $5 parking on weekends!

I am also married to the most amazing man who has literally transformed each window display into retail display magic!  DeForest is responsible for all of the beautiful window displays you see in my YS each week.  People come from near and far (literally) from out of state to see his windows,  and to buy his vintage handbags! www.VintageHandbagsDenver.com.    Genuine designer and vintage handbags that have been previously loved!  They are not consignment as he searches all over and shops for the purses himself.  DeForest has been buying all of my handbags, shoes and accessories for 28years, so it just made sense to put the two things I like best in my Shoppe; yarn and purses!

Thank you to each of the wonderful participants of the yarn crawl for braving the traffic in downtown, LoDo and coming into my YS.  I really have enjoyed meeting each one of you!

A BIG congrats to all of the 20 LYS owners who are my sisters in fiber!  I have so very much enjoyed meeting all of you, and look forward to developing life long friendships with you.  You Ladies Rock!
Cassie :)

Well, I guess I had better get to bed and get up for day seven - 7 of the Yarn Crawl!  CAB :)
